Ingredients

  • 500 ml whole milk
  • 1000 g wheat flour
  • 2 tbsp sunflower oil
  • 1 sachet of dried baker’s yeast
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 tsp sugar

Preparation

  1. Warm the milk in a saucepan until lukewarm, not hot. In a mixing bowl, mix the flour, dried yeast, sugar and salt. Add the milk and oil. Knead until smooth and evenly combined.

  2. Cover the bowl with a clean tea towel. Leave in a warm place for about 60 min, until the dough is well risen. Divide into oblong pieces that fit the steamer basket. Place on perforated baking paper so that the steam can circulate.

  3. Bring water to the boil in the steamer. Put the dough pieces in the basket above the water, leaving space between them and keeping them out of the water. Cover and steam for 20 min, until the crumb is cooked with no sticky dough in the centre. Carefully lift out and let cool slightly on a rack before slicing.
